( 1400–27 nov. 1474, Cambrai, obispado de Cambrai).

Compositor francoflamenco, principal compositor de la escuela borgoñona. Desde niño cantó en el coro de la catedral de Cambrai. Ordenado sacerdote, consiguió una gran reputación por su erudición. En 1428 se unió al grupo de cantores papales en Roma, época en la que sus obras ya lo habían hecho famoso. Volvió a Cambrai 1440, donde supervisó la música de la catedral por el resto de su vida, excepto un período (1451–58) en que trabajó para el duque de Saboya. Muchos músicos fueron a estudiar con él y gozó de renombre como el más grande de los compositores vivos. Entre obras suyas que han perdurado, de textura armónica muy rica, hay 90 canciones, 13 motetes y al menos seis misas completas, incluidas obras tempranas sobre cantus firmus como L'Homme armé y Se la face ay pale.
